In 1958, Shell Petroleum Development Company carried out an exploration work which led to the discovery of crude oil on Kokori soil. She has over twenty oil wells and second best crude oil in theworld by reason of its low sulphur content. In 1994, Kokori generated N68 billion for the federal government of Nigeria
